Week 2 Listening Blog: Tiger Rag

For my listening blog, I chose to listen to Tiger Rag. I really enjoyed listening to this song because it was upbeat, made me want to dance, and had a really happy tune. It makes me feel like people back then were super fun and happy. There are no lyrics in this song, but I think the music speaks for itself as with most jazz songs. The music surprised me because I didn't expect there to be no lyrics, and jazz usually isn't my favorite. However, I really liked this song. I have started becoming a bigger fan of older songs and I think they are really fun to listen to. I would have changed this song only by maybe making there be a bigger climax to the song. I felt like the entire song was really upbeat and loud, but I think there should have been more of a build up and climax to make the song more eventful and less boring for the listener. Overall, while the song was fun and upbeat, I think it had a lot more potential and would be even more popular if it had more of a contrast between verses and if parts of the songs were different from each other.
