Week 5 Listening Blog

For my blog this week, I listened to "Nancy (With the Laughing Face)" by Frank Sinatra. I really enjoyed listening to this song, and it was one of the slower options on the list this week. It is interesting to see that there was a wide variety of music back then just like there is today. This song is slow and romantic, and a perfect example of crooning. I would probably love this song and Frank Sinatra if I were alive during this time, and I would probably be really jealous of Nancy. The lyrics are really sweet, and Sinatra's voice is really smooth and entrancing. He talks about everything he loves about Nancy and everything that makes him love her so much. I also loved the instrumental part of this song as it really set the mood. It is string instruments that sound really slow and soft. The song makes you feel like he is singing it to you, and I think he probably wanted to profess his love for Nancy to everyone he knew. It is a really sweet song. Overall, I loved this song and think it is a really sweet love song that I might listen to in the future.

  1. I like your insights on this song! This song is so beautiful and you're totally right about how it feels like he's singing right to you. One of Sinatra's many talents if I may say so. I like the words you used to describe his voice. It's so silky and smooth and just wonderful to listen to. I would be right there along with you if I lived in his time.
