Week 9 Blog Post

For my blog post this week, I decided to listen to "Hotel California" by The Eagles. This song is probably one of the most well known songs ever and it is really interesting to listen to it critically and try to understand the meaning. The song is really creepy and it took me a while to understand what it was even about (honestly I'm still a little confused??), but I do really like the background music in the song because of how it adds to the effect. This song was so popular when it came out, and I know a lot of people who love this song so much even today. My senior year of high school our English teacher had my class write a whole paper on the song. I don't really like the lead singers voice because it is kinda weird but I know it is probably to add to the song's effect. The guitar solo in this song is so awesome. I don't usually like rock songs, but the guitar solo is honestly what makes this song good. This song is overall really interesting, and probably has a lot of hidden meanings, but it is fun to try and interpret it.

  1. I totally agree with you! "Hotel California" is such a well known song, with a very distinct sound. You're right though, the lyrics are kind of funky, but the music really adds to the overall effect the song has. Oh my goodness, I absolutely love that your English teacher had you all write a paper about this song! Great job on your blog! I love how you were able to talk about the interpretation of this song.

  2. I really love this song and its one I love to listen to with my family. I never knew that it has a weird meaning to it though, so I might have to see for myself what it is. I find it wild your English teacher made you write an entire paper on just the one song, but I guess that shows to the extent that some people love this song.
